UK Charts 09/06/14: Watch Dogs Guards The Top Spot

Watch Dogs has managed to fend off the challenge of Mario Kart 8 and remain number one, while Nintendo’s flagship racing title remains second in the chart. It’s the first Ubisoft game that has managed to retain the lead since Ghost Recon: Future Soldier in 2012.  Murdered: Soul Suspect was hauntingly close to second, only 400 sales behind Mario and co, but had to settle for third. The other new entries, Wildstar and Tomadachi Life both failed to break into the top 10, sitting at 14th and 15th respectively. Minecraft takes two of the top ten spots with the PlayStation 3 Edition in 7, while the Xbox 360 counterpart sits at 10th.

  1. I’m rather surprised to see Murdered: Soul Suspect at #3, not because it doesn’t deserve it, but I didn’t think it was that well advertised. Anyone know if it’s any good?

I think Watch_Dogs will keep me busy until Sniper Elite V3.

    • It’s good game, can’t really compare it to anything, I would say LA Noir maybe, in terms of investigating, finding clues. The character is a cool guy, you possess the living for clues & reading mind etc

      Good game

      • Cool thanks mate, sounds like I’d like it. Might try and pick it up!

  2. Keep it up, brave Wii U game!

Any review planned for Murdered? I realise I’ve got next to no idea what this game is, and it’s intriguing me.

    • With E3 in full swing we’ll likely be too tied up to get a copy to review. No doubt we’ll have something eventually but from I’ve heard it’s certainly worth a punt if mystery/action games are your jam.

      • I understand and respect that. They most certainly are my jam, so I’ll check it out.

  3. Two weeks at number two for a console with such a low install base isn’t to be sniffed at. I’m sorely tempted to get another Wii U to play it, but I keep thinking if I’m going to get a second console to sit next to my PS4 there’ll be a lot more mileage in an Xbox One…

    • But there’s more overlap between PS4 and Xbox. I personally find the PS4 to be a great secondary console to my Wii U (yeah, I said it).
I’ll be picking up an Xbox this fall if E3 can sell me One.

  4. Surprisingly good showing from Mario Kart. Not bad from Soul Suspect either given that its the week after Watch Dogs and has had little hype in comparison.

  5. Why does Minecraft get 2 spots? Its no different to any other multi plat game is it?

    • It’s to make things fair, if not, Minecraft would always hold the top spot.

    • I’m assuming it’s because one version is published by MS the other by Sony.

  6. Just read over on the BBC article about Watch Dogs selling 900,000 on the X1 and 1.9 million on the PS4. Very impressive figures all ’round.
