Nintendo has kicked off its E3 briefing with a closer look at the new Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS. After a brief punch-up between Nintendo big wigs Iwata and Reggie, the two sat down for a quick round, sporting the all-new MiiFighters.
As the name suggests, this roster option allows players to import their own likeness into Smash Bros. Fully aware of how such a feature could be used by the community, Nintendo showed off custom Miis for real life personalities, Elijah Wood and Ice-T included.
MiiFighters can adopt one of three playstyles, the Brawler, Swordfighter, and Gunner. Each has twelve special moves available to them.
Aside from a brief look at some new modes and mini-games, Nintendo also unveiled its very first NFC figure. As with Skylanders and Disney Infinity, these characters can be placed on the Wii U Gamepad to unlock features within the game. We’ll have more on this new feature in a later “amiibo” post.
Super Smash Bros. for is billed for a holiday release, the 3DS version currently slated to launch in October.
