A Lot Of People Played The Destiny Beta, And Bungie Have The Stats To Prove It

Do you like statistics? Bungie does, and they recently took the time to show off a few from the Destiny beta. We knew a few days ago that it had over 4.6 million total players on all platforms combined, but they’ve since offered up a bunch more via a spiffy info-graph.

Destiny InfographicNow while the number of concurrent users and the fact that it’s higher than any previously released Bungie game (yes, that includes every Halo) is by far the sexiest number, it’s worth noting that Bungie never released a Halo game on more than one platform at a time. The Destiny beta had four.

My favorite stat is the 1,969 people that faked a landing on the moon. I’ll be honest, it took me a second to figure out where they got that number.

  1. Hi, I usually play shooters on my PC, but I recently played Borderlands 2 on my PS3. I really want to play this game and I will buy it for my PS3. I am considering buying a DualShock 4 to have a better controller to use, I read that it is compatible with the PS3. Do you think that is wise ?

    • I can’t really say for definite about Borderlands 2 but I’m using a DS4 on PS3 to play TLoU and it works a treat, apart from sixaxis motion. The Share button works as Select and the Options button works as Start. I presume it works because of Sony’s DS4 drivers for the PS3 and not just because of Naughty Dog’s software, so i reckon it should work ok for Borderlands too so long as there are no sixaxis-dependant functions in the game. In TLoU you need sixaxis (shake) to recharge the torch battery, but since i began clicking the torch on and off briefly i haven’t had to recharge it yet.

  2. No platform breakdown? Wasn’t long back Larry hybb would have been spewing stats all over twitter about how Xbox owners were voting with their feet blah blah blah

  3. Hmm, I’m assuming the 1969 moon landing stat is made up.. I really enjoyed the beta, but info released afterwards has made me question the length and suitability of solo play and have since cancelled my preoreder.

I wonder what the stat for that is…
