Ubisoft has just announced Toy Soldiers: War Chest for PS4, Xbox One and PC, bringing a new tower defence game with a twist to the formula. First off the armies aren’t your standard fare with all them being comprised of various toys. There are the toy World War 1 era soldiers who have combat experience, and an army comprised of fairies, teddy bears, and unicorns led by the pixie Starbright. The game itself is being developed by Signal Studios, with founder D.R. Albright III saying the following.
“Partnering with Ubisoft presented an opportunity to create the Toy Soldiers game we had always envisioned. Gamers of all ages can play as and face off against toys familiar to them from their childhoods to recreate the battles from their imaginations. Fans will have a great time learning how each army plays and the individual strengths of their troops and weapons.”
In Toy Soldiers: War Chest the game starts off as a traditional tower defence title where you place down turrets to stop enemy advances, but during the game you can take control of any of the turrets to rain down bullets. Taking out the enemy gains points and enough of those will allow the use of the army’s unique hero, who can charge into battle to lay waste to all that oppose it. The game will let you face off against others or play solo against the AI. When launched there will be four armies to choose from with, though what the other two are remains a mystery.
Toy Soldiers: War Chest is expected to launch in 2015.
