Yesterday Microsoft dropped a huge bombshell by announcing that Rise Of The Tomb Raider, sequel to the 2013 reboot of the franchise, would be coming exclusively to Xbox. The fallout from that announcement led to confusion and some major annoyance/ anger from gamers at large. In fact this morning we published Tuffcub’s reaction to the announcement, and he was less than pleased with it.
Now that the dust has settled a little Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has been speaking to Eurogamer, and exactly what kind of deal has been put in place with Crystal Dynamics.
“I have Tomb Raider shipping next holiday exclusively on Xbox. It is Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I’m not trying to fake anybody out in terms of where this thing is. What they do with the franchise in the long run is not mine. I don’t control it. So all I can talk about is the deal I have. I don’t know where else Tomb Raider goes.”
Yes, the deal has a duration. I didn’t buy it. I don’t own the franchise.”
There’s no indication when the deal ends, but the door is open for Crystal Dynamics to bring Rise Of The Tomb Raider to PC, PS4 & PS3 afterwards.

Should hit sales targets this time, however controversial!
