Mario Kart 8 DLC Includes Zelda & Animal Crossing Characters And Tracks

Nintendo have finally unveiled the long-anticipated Mario Kart 8 DLC packs via their Nintendo store. These will bring in other Nintendo franchises to the game for the first time in the history of the racing series, with tracks and characters based on The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing.

Each pack will bring two new cups – that’s eight tracks in total, with four being all-new and four remade versions of existing circuits. This increases the total number of courses to 48, and one of the remake courses has been confirmed as Wario’s Gold Mine from MK Wii. New vehicles will also include the Blue Falcon Kart, which is a reference to F-Zero.

The first pack will release in November 2014, and the second in May 2015. They will cost the rather affordable sum of £7 each, which is a great deal considering the content they boast. Additionally, if you purchase both, you’ll get eight new colours of Yoshi and Shy Guy to use.

Pack 1 includes:

  • 3 Characters: Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Link
  • 4 Vehicles
  • 8 Courses

Pack 2 includes:

  • 3 Characters: Villager, Isabelle, Dry Bowser
  • 4 Vehicles
  • 8 Courses

Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach aren’t the most exciting characters, but it’s nice to see the return of Dry Bowser and characters from other Nintendo franchises joining the game.

They know how to please their fans, that’s for sure.

  1. Christ that’s a cheap price. Theres a bundle too with an additional discount, very impressed with Nintendo. Good on them.

  2. This made my day.

Not to excited about another Mario and Peach, but Link, Isabelle and Dry Bones sound awesome! And all those tracks, wow!

I wonder how they’ll handle Villager, given it’s a customisable character.

    • Oh, Dry Bowser… Well, I can live with that.
