A Devilish Saints Row Tease Ahead Of Tonight’s Volition PAX Panel

It looks like Volition are gearing up to announce a new Saints Row game during their panel at PAX Prime in Seattle, later today. Deep Silver sent out the following teaser image this morning with the title “SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES”.

However, the link to PAX is something that was picked up on by CVG earlier this week, as they noted the description of Volition’s panel – set to run from 6PM-7PM UK time – read:

The developers behind the Saints Row franchise invite you to participate in a quiz show hour with Natalie Lander, the voice of Kinzie! At the end of the panel, we’ll show you exclusive gameplay, art, and details for an upcoming project from Volition.

Adding the teaser and the panel’s details together, it certainly seems that we’ll be seeing the announcement of a fresh entry in the Saints Row series, and I have a sneaking suspicion it might have something to do with the devil…

  1. They’ve gone as big as they can on Earth then went alien, makes sense to move into supernatural I suppose.

  2. we’ve had Saints in space, Saints in hell next?

    Saints vs satan?

    sounds good to me. ^_^

  3. Where can they go with Saint’s Row after the 4th game? How could it get any more insane? The super powers of 4 are obviously out (since that was only because of being in a computer simulation). And wasn’t the planet destroyed? Wasn’t there some time travel involved at the end?

I’m sure they can do something mad with the franchise though. And not something boring like a prequel. If they can find some way to avoid having to drive around, even better. One of the best things in SR4 was that you never had to drive anything and put up with shitty car handling (like SR3 and the various GTAs). That and the way they reduced endless, tedious conversation choices that could possibly lead to a sudden random bit of sex down to a simple “let’s *BLEEP*!”. With men, women or robots.

But shouldn’t the next game be number 5? So doesn’t fit in quite as neatly with the 666 in that image. Unless they just skip SR5 because reasons? It’s not as if any sensible sort of logic has to apply to Saint’s Row now, is it? Maybe 4 was all a dream and 6 happens sometime after the events of 5, which everyone has forgotten after some traumatic incident with a giant purple “weapon”?

  4. Could this not be another expansion for SR4? Like How the Saints Stole Christmas but for Halloween?

It’d be great if they did the Apocolypse and the end of days. I really hope they find a way to include the crazy super powers from SR4 though. It’s not like they have to explain themselves. Just have one of the character face the screen and say ‘hey, I know it doesn’t make sense but you can fly because the fans really wanted it’.
