Here’s a double whammy of 3DS news for you. First, we’ll get to the details of the 3DS deal which sees new buyers receive a free game if they purchase another, before moving onto the (somewhat spoilery) full roster for Smash Bros., which has now been revealed. If you don’t want to see the latter, we’ll mark where the section starts with a line.
If you buy either Pokémon Alpha Sapphire or Omega Ruby or Super Smash Bros. with your 3DS or 2DS, and you register both the game and the console on Club Nintendo, then you’ll be able to choose a free download code for a game from this list: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Yoshi’s New Island, Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Mario Golf: World Tour, Mario Party: Island Tour, or Pokémon Art Academy.
You’ll need to do this by the 12th of January 2015 in order to receive the game, and the download code will expire two months later. Full details are here.
Spoilers from here, but new characters from Smash Bros. have now been confirmed as Japanese players have managed to get their hands on the game before its release on Friday. In addition to the Nintendo-confirmed characters, a stream (via Eurogamer) has revealed some new additions and returning favourites.
The new characters include Dark Pit from Kid Icarus, and the dog from Duck Hunt. Fans will be pleased to see Ganondorf, Mr. Game and Watch, Wario, Ness, Falco, and Dr. Mario return to the game too. An earlier leak included all of these characters, as well as ROB, Jigglypuff, and Bowser Jr., though those have yet to be confirmed.
