Kojima Teases Another Metal Gear Solid Collection

When it comes to Hideo Kojima, nothing is ever as simple or straightforward as we’d like it to be. From the exotic media stunts surrounding MGSV: The Phantom Pain to the recent “trailer” for Silent Hills, he’s one of the industry’s most playful and cryptic icons.

Taking to Twitter, Kojima has now conjured up yet another mystery for his fans by posting the following image:

Of course, details on what this “2014” collection could be are scarce. In the past Konami has published a number of Metal Gear ports and re-releases, including recent HD remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and Peace Walker. This was then followed by The Legacy Collection which also threw in digital copies of earlier Metal Gear games, plus two digital graphic novels.

If we were to guess, this latest collection could be one of two things. On one hand it might just be an updated version of the Legacy Collection, complete with Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Rising, and perhaps more retro goodies. Alternatively, Konami could be planning to remaster its flagship action series again but this time for new-gen platforms.

  1. My moneys on a cardboard box collection – lifesize recreations of all the boxes from the games.

    • Hah, I like that! You make it and I’ll buy it.
I’m hoping for a complete collection including Phantom Pain, although I have a feeling that’s pencilled for next year so probably not the case?

  2. If I could have MGS4 on Vita I would be the happiest man alive.

This could be the remakes of the original Metal Gear games, possibly.. Crafty old Kojima might have had a team or two working on them for a bit and their cancellation was just a ruse.

The font in the tweeted image doesn’t relate to anything regarding the PS2/3 era games.

  3. Probably MGS4 on xbone & PC that’s the only game that’s it on other platforms
