The Last Guardian Progressing Under “New Conditions”

The Last Guardian creator, Fumito Ueda, has said that the game is still being developed despite his departure from Sony last year and “the unforeseen amount of time required” to create the game.

Dengeki PlayStation asked developers about their most memorable title on the platform and Ueda replied “The Last Guardian, by which I mean all the hardships and the unforeseen amount of time required than what was originally thought.”

He then went on to say that  “Talks with Sony Computer Entertainment on The Last Guardian have been ironed out, and we’re making progress under completely new conditions. I’m also working on some other things that I’ll hopefully be able to show in time if progress is smooth.”

What these “new conditions” are is unclear, he could be talking about his working relationship with Sony or that the game has moved to PlayStation 4, it would be very surprising if the game is still coming out on PS3.

  1. Imagine if they release it as a PSone game, that would be amazing.

    • Or a deliciously cute pet/meal combo.

  2. It’s now a mobile title. Available from the App Store in 2027.

  3. “making progress under completely new conditions”

In other words, they’ve given up on the game and poured their budget into stem cell research so they can create a real life giant Cat-Bird.

    • Free giant cat bird with every pre-ordered PS5! **Sony will not be held responsible for family members eaten by your new terrifying cat bird. Please feed responsibly.

      • I think we’re on to something here.
After just seeing an article saying the EA servers have been taken down they should also teach it to feed on lizards… Lizards that hang around in so-called Squads!

  4. I don’t care what anyone says, I’m still excited! I’m gonna call my cat-dog-bird Theo and he’s gonna be awesome.

  5. Weirdly enough, this is the first time where it now feels like a joke to me. New conditions? Wow… how much change can there be to a game without it being completely unrecognisable from the initial concept. It would appear the answer is “more than we ever imagined”. It just needs to jump platform or possibly become a theatrical production instead and the transformation will be complete.

  6. XBox One Exclusive?

    • Jaguar Atari exclusive.
