Dying Light’s European Physical Release Now Set For February 27th

Outside of rumour and counter rumour, nobody knows exactly why the street date for the physical release of Dying Light has been pushed back from its intended date of January 30th, but after a nearly a week of speculation, Techland have finally confirmed that the game will ship in Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia on February 27th.

That’s quite a set back of nearly a month, but for those demanding a fix of open world zombie dodging, the digital release has been shuffled around to hit PSN, Xbox Live and Steam on January 28th in those territories, while the US release on January 27th remains blissfully unaffected.

As a little apology for the delay, Techland are making it so that physical pre-orders will now get the Cuisine & Cargo and Ultimate Survivor Bundle for free in these areas, while everyone, everywhere will get the “Be the Zombie” multiplayer mode for free, regardless of pre-ordering or not. This mode was being made separate was never really a popular decision amongst gamers, anyway. Finally, the following statement from the Dying Light team also adds that extra weapon dockets will be given away for pre-ordering.

Dear gamers,

As you already know, today we detailed our launch timing for Dying Light. Although the changes affect only the release of boxed copies in certain territories, we want to show all of you our appreciation for your continued support. Thus, we’re really happy to announce that “Be the Zombie” will be available for free to everyone, on all platforms, in all territories.

We’ll also be giving away extra weapon dockets to everyone who pre-ordered Dying Light and signed up at Dockets.DyingLightGame.com.

We want to thank you for your patience and support in this matter and can’t wait for you to enjoy playing Dying Light and invading other players’ game in the “Be the Zombie” mode.

– Dying Light Team

With all of that in mind, I turn this over to you. Has all of this affected your plans to buy or not buy Dying Light? Will you be eagerly lapping up reviews and opinions from across the pond, before making a decision?

  1. I pre-ordered mine from ShopTo.net…has there been an official reason in detail as to what the reason is for the delay for physical media? A full month is a hell of a delay…

    • It’s a massive delay, isn’t it. Don’t know what to do now. :-/

  2. Yes it has affected mine as I am trading The Crew in tomorrow to pre-order Dying Light for beginning of February but it’s in the end it clashes with The Order. Dying Light will have to wait!

  3. I was expecting a 7-10 day delay but 4 weeks is ridiculous and I can see it costing them a lot of sales. I would go digital to avoid the problem but it’s 35% more expensive than a physical copy so I’ll just have to wait.

  4. Glitch on US Gamestop site at the moment, which I can confirm works if you don’t mind having the US version. The season pass codes have been loaded incorrectly on their website, and actually is the full game for $19.99 Easiest way is to buy instant gamestop gift card from Amazon US ($25). Make up an account for Gamestop.com, google a McDonalds address in the states. Then Buy with the the Gamestop card. It is a bit of a hassle, but ends up around £17.50 for the full game with a spare $5 for Gamestop in the future
