News reaches us on this slowest of slow news days that Hans Jorgen Olsen, a twelve year old, Norwegian boy has saved his sister from a “threatening” moose after they mistakenly wandered in to moose territory during a trek through a forest.

“Hans, thinking quickly on his feet, implemented the skill he had learnt from World of Warcraft (a popular video game) and ‘taunted’ the animal to get its attention whilst his sister ran away,” reports ARY News.
“Once the moose had directed its attention towards Hans, the boy pulled another trick from his sleeve, that he had also learned from World of Warcraft. Feigning death, he slumped down onto the ground and the moose lost interest in him. As the moose wandered off, not interested in the ‘dead’ Hans, the boy got up and ran to his home.”
If you have used “video game skills” to escape a life-or-death situation involving a European mammal – perhaps you evaded a weasel by using stealth tactics from Metal Gear Solid – then get in touch with TSA, we’d love to hear from you.

UPDATE: It seems that we’re having such a slow news day that articles are travelling through rifts in time and this incident actually happened a while back, though the source Tuffcub used only reported it today. You know what they say, you moose you lose. [Blair]

Video games save lives, it’s a fact.

This story is about a year old ain’t it?
Tuffcub
Well not according to the site I sourced, they dated it today. But apparently it is old. Never mind, you can never have too much Moose news.

I use video game skills every day. Since I played Alien: Isolation, I got so much better avoiding other people in the office with annoying questions or tasks, as I just sneak around under desks, etc.
And if I need someone else to do something for me, I fall out of the vents above them and they got no chance evading me.

I regularly pretend to be asleep so my other half doesn’t bother me. Thank you, video games.

I hit black ice in my car and narrowly avoided hitting a car head on by using skills learned in GT5, does that count???

Racist. :D

I’m considering skinning my neighbours annoying cat using the skills I learnt in Red Dead Redemption.

All my best bedroom moves were learnt from the Sims.

Brave kid, a moose is no joke. Although those aren’t exactly what I’d call videogame skills as much as general wildlife skills.

I once infiltrated the women’s locker room using nothing but a cardboard box and a solid eye. Zero alerts and a solid snake. I also saved ‘Merica by using the power of slow motion from the raving rabbits whilst consuming half of morrision’s to boost my strength and used the power of the voice to vanquish the Gods of England.
OH and i once did a barrel roll in a real barrel.
