Square Enix have revealed a new trailer as well as fresh details about its forthcoming arcade version of the three-versus-three fighting game, Dissidia Final Fantasy, including the news that Team Ninja will be co-developing the title.
The game is confirmed to have a roster of 14 playable characters including Cloud Strife (FF VII), Warrior of Light (FF I) and Ramza Beoulve (FF Tactics). More characters will be added in post-launch updates with Square Enix confirming that the total number of playable characters will eventually reach 50.
The company revealed that the arcade game will run on a version of the PlayStation 4 hardware but will remain exclusive to arcades for at least a year. It could be assumed that, given the hardware the game is running on, that a console launch will be inevitable in the future. The game is planned to release in Japanese arcades this Autumn with Square Enix confirming that it will be play-testing the title in select locations later this month.

It would be epic if it came to PS4. Pleaseeee do.

Do arcades actually have games in them anymore? All the ones near me are just full of Fruit Machines and Penny Pushers.
Then again, we are talking Japan.

Aracades are very popular in Japan. Sadly, the futher West you go, they become much rarer.

It’s a shame that arcades aren’t so popular over here, we had a decent one around where I live and going there with mates was such a blast.

It’s probably due to the fact that when I was younger, the games on computers or game consoles weren’t a touch on the arcade versions graphics. It was whole other experience playing a game on a spectrum to then playing it in the arcades. In fact most of my mates & me including only had black & white TVs to play games on ’til at the least the late 80s.
You’d also be hard pushed to find a game which you could play co-op on either with your mates unless you were in the arcades.
I remember being absolutely amazed when I first saw Mortal Kombat in the arcades. – Holy sh*t! That was over 20 years ago, I was in high school!
Now it’s pretty much the other way round. Why would I want to stick a quid in a machine to play a game that looks about 10/15 years old. Maybe arcade game graphics have improved lately but I haven’t seen an arcade game that has remotely impressed me for years.

I’d much rather have a proper Final Fantasy game instead. Haven’t had one of those since the PS2 days. And I quite liked 13 and 13-2 (although Lightning Returns was just utter shit) but they weren’t proper FF games. (And XIV isn’t looking much of an improvement. Except it looks nicer, obviously)

This is confirmed to come to ps4, there’s even a arcade-ps4 comparison video released by square enix that came out a few days ago. I say that’s a very good sign of it coming
