The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have published a couple of documents that reveal designs for two new revisions of the PlayStation 4. The models are codenamed CUH-1215A and CUH-1215B and the latter of these is fitted with a 1TB hard drive.
Both models also have slightly lower power consumption that current models.
Sony have not announced a 1TB PlayStation 4 but E3 is usually the place where they reveal such things and that is just days away. The question is, will the 1TB model keep the same price as the current 500gb model, and if so, how much will the price of the 500gb model drop?

I think the triggers could do with being reshaped, I find them a bit uncomfortable at times. But the thumb sticks are by far the worst, I still can’t get used to the concave bit on them.

The worst bit about those sticks is they’re too stiff. Doesn’t give you enough control.
And the rubber on the first batch was a bit crap and wore out quickly. (Although due “reasons”, both Sony _and_ Amazon replaced the whole controller for me. And only Amazon wanted the old one back. Which was a good result).

The battery life definitely needs improving. i’ve tried a few of those rubber pads but they always slip off at the worst time – like mid boss-fight in Bloodborne! I might have to try a spot of glue.

Battery life needs to be doubled at least. Forever charging the damn thing.
I like the sticks on the XB1 pad (not the position). They have a better grip than the DS4 sticks.
I really like the touch pad on the DS4. Not as a touch pad exactly but I’m so used to clicking it for maps n stuff that when I use the XB1 pad I feel like somethings missing.

You get used to the position. The Xbox pads are great controllers all in all I suppose they look alien at first like with the Wii U gamepad.

Yeah, I do like the XB1 pad a lot more than I thought I would (clicky bumpers aside) but I after years of gaming exclusively on Playstation, I think I’ll always prefer the position of the sticks on the DS4. I have mates who think the complete opposite though.

I don’t think these revisions include this, but it’s destined to happen because the APUs are currently 32nm (if I recall correctly), and production processes are set to reduce that, hence the overall size would come down a tiny bit. Then again, the unit is already quite small and slim, relatively speaking.

Yep, 28nm, that was it, and they’d have to had to wait longer for the 20nm. I don’t think we’ll be seeing a 20nm APU until the first PS4 refit, although who knows, it might be in this current revision.

I think you’re right, the latest AMD APUS that came out last month are still only fabricated at 28nm.

I upgraded my HHD to a 1TB hybrid drive, it’s well worth it as it starts up and loads games a fair bit faster than the original drive.
I would advise anyone upgrading their drive to backup their data to a USB3 HDD if possible, it hours quicker than downloading all your stuff from PSN.

Upgraded mine to a 2TB on purchase. Silly not to and pretty short-sighted to be honest. No excuse unless you have zero money after initial purchase. If so, wait and save! It’s going to save you so much hassle in the future.

I’ll upgrade in the near future and add an external thanks to the firmware update. It’s not been an issue for me as there’s been so little to occupy a massive HDD until recently and have quite happily skipped along with the 500 gigger.
Short sighted, yeah probably as I use glasses these days for small print otherwise try to look cool and read the printed paraphernalia/bullshit at a long arms length without the bins :P

Just out of curiosity, how long to restore everything back onto PS4? – assuming you have approx 500GB backup file to restore. I guess it must be much quicker than it was on PS3 so hopefully it won’t be too painful when i eventually do upgrade my Hdd.

It depends on speed of drive, I had around 350GB of data which took about 4 to 5 hours to backup and 3 to 4 hours to upload.

I already switched from the moment my ps4 said full memory, I went & bought a Samsung 2TB. Was so worried about doing it myself but it was so easy I would do it again if I have too

I had to delete some games the other day to free some space. But I generally dont start a new game until I’ve finished the last one so I dont mind deleting them once they’re done.
PS4 installs games lightening fast anyway so if you ever did want to go back (and have to re-install) most games are playable within seconds. One of the best features about the PS4 imo.

Already got a 2 TB drive in my PS4. What would be nice is if they could expand the memory in the Online Storage. Anyone can buy a new drive for their PS4, but we have no option to get more space for game saves. :'( :P

As the talk from Sony recently seems to be about not lowering prices until they need to, i’m guessing no price drop for the 500GB model and maybe 50 quid more for the 1Tb model.
