The next core Zelda title might not be at E3 this year, but the franchise isn’t completely absent. The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, a new 3DS exclusive title, was announced during Nintendo Direct and it looks fairly interesting. The game features three characters working together in both single and multiplayer, with a heavy focus on character customisation.
In the game’s single player mode you play as Link and are accompanied by two “doll like” characters that you can switch to, while in multiplayer it seems that all three of you will be playing as Link and co-operating. The three characters can help each other by stacking themselves into a totem to reach high spots, as well as utilizing classic Zelda items to boost each other through levels.
On the customisation side of things, the game’s story has a heavy fashion focus. You’ll be able to unlock new outfits and items for Link, although these won’t be purely cosmetic. Switching Link’s look will also unlock different abilities, which Nintendo say will give you different experiences each time you play through a level.
