One of the big surprise announcements during E3 was mod support for the Xbox One version of Fallout 4, and these mods will be free. Of course it did sound like it would be an Xbox One exclusive, which would make sense with the Windows 10 relationship the console will have with PC. However Bethesda’s Todd Howard has revealed that mod support will eventually come to PS4, but there is no solid timeline probably down to working out how to implement such a system on PS4 & timed exclusivity with Xbox One.
Hopefully the introduction of Fallout 4 mods for consoles will eventually lead to other developers being able to do the same with their games.

It’ll be interesting to see what types of mods will be available on console and if they wil be free or charge for them.

I thought people got all upset and had a stupid moan about things if anyone tried to charge for mods?
Or is that only when it applies to PC games on Steam? I keep losing track of what the bottom half of the internet likes to whinge about these days and why.

Mods coming to consoles is really exciting I think. Firstly, because it will add new features, and secondly, they could be used to fix broken games or improve the performance of some. Whether publishers and developers allow this to happen though, is another matter.

Mods were possible on PS3 too, weren’t they?
Unreal Tournament allowed them

Huh, TIL. If they’ve been around for quite a while and haven’t caught traction, hopefully Fallout 4 will give them the ‘push’ they need.
