iPhone 6 Plus & Other Large Smartphones Not Compatible With Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition

During Fallout 4’s full reveal at E3 Bethesda confirmed a special edition which would include a wearable Pip-Boy, with a space to put your smartphone in so you could view the app and your character’s stats. The Pip-Boy edition is selling out fast but some of those who ordered it may not be able to put their phones in the holder, with this being dependant on the size of smartphone that some players may own.  Bethesda released the following statement about smartphone compatibility.

The Pip-Boy included will have foam inserts that fit iPhone 6, iPhone 5/5s, iPhone 4/4S, Samsung Galaxy 5, and Samsung Galaxy 4. In addition, using the customizable foam insert you should be able to fit most other popular smartphone devices.  As we wanted to stay faithful to the dimensions of the in-game model, any smartphones larger than the models listed will not fit inside the wearable device.

So if you own an iPhone 6 Plus, a Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, a Sony Xperia Z3+, HTC One Max, LG G3 or  HTC One M9 then it may be likely that they won’t fit in the device as each of those is taller than an iPhone 6 & Galaxy S5. You can still download the companion app though to track your character stats.

  1. i have an Xperia z, the first one, i don’t know if that will fit, it’d be nice if they gave the actual internal dimensions.

just googled the size of the Galaxy 5 my phone is slightly smaller, i just measured it, so if the G5 fits, my phone should.

of course getting one of the Pip Boys is another matter.

  2. Wow they need to get with the times. I’ll be upgrading my 6 plus to the 6 plus plus in a few months.

That might explain why that e3 trailer looked so bad a few weeks ago. They must not know there are new consoles out and are still working on the PS3/360.

  3. The explanation makes sense.
