The Elder Scrolls Online: Imperial City DLC Will Fall On August 31st

With The Elder Scrolls Online’s turbulent first year of release out of the way, and having established itself on consoles, it’s time for the game world to start moving forward in a serious manner. The Imperial City at the heart of the Cyrodiilic Empire is set to fall in the first DLC expansion pack – aptly titled ‘Imperial City’ – with a release scheduled for August 31st on PC and September 15th on Xbox One and the 16th on PlayStation 4.

With the city falling to Daedric Prince Molag Bal and his armies, an epic power struggle is set to unfold as the three alliances that exist within the world look to defeat the Daedric conquerors, but also make sure to do so in a fashion that grabs the most land and power for their own faction.

There will be new PvE and PvP content set across the six Imperial districts, with plenty of new dungeons, quests, enemies – including the Xivkyn – and characters to meet. And, of course, there’s a new currency to earn and use to buy Vetern Rank 16 weapons and armour, in addition to uncovering rare treasures within the world.

When the time comes, members with an ESO Plus subscription will be able to join the fray without charge, whilst it will cost 2,500 Crowns using the game’s virtual currency. Cheekily, you can’t actually buy Crowns on in that particular denomination, but 750 Crowns cost £4.79, 1500 is £8.99, 3000 is £14.99 or 5500 is £23.99. Naturally, the more you spend, the better an exchange rate you get, but however you cut it, you’ll end up with some Crowns left over.

  1. Ah, so fundamentally the DLC costs money. Will have to have a bit of a think about that one. Would love to check out the new areas but also want to find out if they’re just late-game areas as that takes the edge off of it somewhat.

    • Well, without mandatory subscriptions, they’ve got to turn a profit somehow!

Digging into it a little – it’s on a TESO wikia – the city is a big six segmented circle of districts which exist on an island in the centre of Cyrodiil, with lots of underground places to explore as well. PvP is on at all times, but there will also be plenty of PvE stuff too.

Obviously, if you’ve got any doubts, it’s just a case of waiting a bit until more details about the expansion come out!

      • Agreed. Bought the game anyway (ages ago) so I can check into it any time I fancy. :-)

      • what do you think the PS Plus an Xbox Gold are ? people are paying enough as it is. its pure greed.. plain and simple.

      • The best part of this comment is that you have seemingly somehow assumed that they would make any money from Xbox live & PS plus subscriptions. Not entirely sure how that would work tbh.

Perhaps you could explain exactly how Zenimax/Bethesda are getting paid from those subs?

It’s almost like you have ignored the subject material, seen something (anything) about subscriptions & then had a bit of a moan about something completely unrelated. But that would never happen, right? ;)
