Need for Speed was front and center to kick off EA’s conference this morning, and it mostly centered around the five ‘icons’ in the game that represent different driving disciplines, and different paths you can take in the campaign. Though the trailer only showed bits and pieces of this, you can still get an idea of what they’re going for.

Still haven’t made my mind up about this game, I’ve enjoyed most of the NFS games but the last one wasn’t the best.
Forrest_01
It also wasn’t the worst. By a long shot.
Pretty sure The Run takes that crown.

I may buy this for the car customisation alone, although I still have concerns about the online-only business, and I still don’t understand quite how the game will work.
Forrest_01
Rivals was pretty much perma-online. Didn’t really have any effect or impact unless you needed a pee, as it had no option to pause – You could be pretty sure that you would be busted by the time you returned (unless you were a cop of course!).
Didn’t really harm it too much in my eyes (still played, enjoyed & platinumed it… Twice), but a pause option would have been a most welcomed ‘feature’! ;)

Well that’s positive to hear, thanks. My concern is that it’ll be trouble like The Crew was, and often people weren’t able to play.
Non-pausing may also be a slight issue too as I sometimes have to attend to the kids if they wake up etc, but not a deal-breaker ;)
Forrest_01
Yeah unfortunately, that’s still a bit of a deal breaker – Poor internet? Probably not worth it. PSN/XBL downtime? Fuhgeddaboudit.
They don’t really take these things into consideration unfortunately. Destiny (& the crew) faced the same issue over xmas when PSN was having it’s ‘issues’. It makes for a disappointing experience (downright miserable in fact if you just got a console & only have that game to play).
That said though, a couple of days here or there haven’t stopped me from pumping more hours into Destiny than anything else I have ever played.
Youles
Yeah, there’s not much you can do about it I guess. Looking forward to seeing more of this though, looks good.

Magnus Walker is a real person, known for his collection of custom Porches and not racing.
I don’t like what they’re doing here.
Forrest_01
Are they not specifically highlighting the new customisation (which has been missing from the games for a while now), so going on the custom angle rather than the racing angle?
Kennykazey
Hopefully, but I don’t like bringing in real people like this. It ruins what could otherwise work as a B-movie storymode.
