Grow Home is the story of BUD, a Botanical Utility Droid sent on a mission across the galaxy to seek out a new species of flora to help oxygenate his home world. He finds the perfect specimen in the Star Plant. You’ll help the plant grow as you climb to the top. Along the way you’ll travel through a series of floating islands, crafting your own playground in the sky.
September’s goodies also include Super Time Force Ultra on PS4 and PS Vita, Teslagrad on PS4 and PS3, Twisted Metal on PS3, La-Mulana EX on PS Vita, and Xeodrifter on PS4 and PS Vita.

There’s a real bunch of whingers on here sometimes- what are people expecting for less than £4 a month? These games could turn out to be really entertaining gems. The thing is, if Sony started putting out so-called triple A titles, chances are many of us would have them already. A bit like when Microsoft put black flag on games with gold, most who wanted that title probably already had it. I’m not just blindly defending plus either, some months there haven’t been much for me. It’s just that overall, it’s pretty good value for money- especially when you consider that a few years ago many of us were happy to pay 40 notes a year just for xbox live!

I ruled out buying a 360 because of the Live requirement. When PS+ started up as an optional service, offering fantastic games for little money, it was a no-brainer.
Unfortunately, as predicted, when PS4 came along and made Plus a requirement for online gaming the quality of the PS+ titles dipped considerably…
And therein lies my complaint; the PS3 days set a ridiculously high standard that’s all but a distant memory. Worse still, we are told we now HAVE to pay for Plus if we want to go online, a la Xbox, and it’s not at all clear where that money is going.
Hooked us in with great “freebies” so it wouldn’t feel such a burden when it becomes compulsory, and then gradually reduce the quality (and value) of the games given away… Clever long game, but disappointing

I have never complained about Plus before, but this is one crap month for me.
I haven’t heard of any of these games, and a quick look on YouTube shows that Super Time Force Ultra, La-Mulana EX and Xeodrifter all in fact appear to be one and the same game…and one made for the Mega Drive at that.
I disagree with many of the comments that Plus has been terrible ever since the PS4 entered our lives. I’ve sunk many an enjoyable hour into the likes of Resogun, Contrast, PixelJunk Shooter, Velocity 2X, CounterSpy, OddWorld, Valiant Hearts, Never Alone, MouseCraft, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, and Rocket League.
I’ll take the odd bit of dross for what on the whole is a fair service for £39.99 a year.

That being said – I would have voted for Grow Home if I’d remembered to vote, but on this side of the poll I can’t say that I’m actually feeling very excited about it.
I’ve wanted to try Teslagrad but had decided to Plus it, so, you know – result.
The other stuff I haven’t even heard of, apart from Twisted Metal which I thought looked as crappy as it’s previous gen counterparts.

All of these games look absolute trash.A quality Machine like the ps4 and we are seeing games that you could have played in the early 90s. I dont get it!!!

After last month, where I had no new games due to having them all already, this is a vast improvement, personally.
But with all the moaning people are doing, one important thing has been overlooked. Super Time Force Ultra will let you play as Shuhei Yoshida. And everyone loves Shu, surely?
Xeodrifter looks a bit crap, but then you probably shouldn’t judge things just on how they look. Could be a wonderful game there. Or it could be crap.
What I particularly like is how so much time is spent complaining about graphics not taking full advantage of the PS4, and then everyone goes and votes for the game that appears to be doing exactly that. Grow Home looks barely finished, as if they gave up before they got around to textures and stuff. But still beats the nicer looking other 2 games?

I thought this too. Grow Home looks more like an interesting concept than a well-rounded finished article.
Zombie Vikings got my vote, just for the fun-looking online multiplayer.
Does anyone know if it’s been made public how many people actually voted? As in, what percentage of PS+ subscribers actually bothered to cast a vote? Just wondering how popular this Vote to Play was in general.

I voted Grow Home because it looked like the least demanding of the three. I’ve been playing through Arkham Knight for the past few weeks and GTA V is next on the pile, so I didn’t want to break away from those games to play something I wouldn’t look twice at if it wasn’t free on plus. Grow Home looked like it might be fun and something I’d try at the least. Plus, it’s nice to play a game every once in a while that isn’t just shades of brown or grey.
The other two looked like games you had to put a lot of time in to get anything out of them. Armello would have been my second choice but it would have ended up on my hdd never to be played like 85% of the games I download with plus. I couldn’t even finish the trailer for Vikings, never mind the game.

Twisted Metal makes sense coming not long after Rocket League which was impartially inspired by Twisted Metal. Its a really really good game albeit difficult, frustrating yet exhilarating and balls to the wall fun. Recommend it.
As for the others, shame Armello didn’t get the vote. Super Time Force looks good though. Saw that at the PS Experience last year.
Still, I am surgically attached to Rocket League so I am not fussed about the supposed lack of quality this month.

Grow Home looks interesting at least and i deliberated about picking up Teslagrad at one point so i’ll also give that a go. I didn’t subscribe to plus to play the games i want but to provide me with additional content i wouldn’t otherwise buy.

Its quite annoying when your PS Plus Subscription runs out, you buy another year & a couple of days later get presented with a load of games I could’ve played 30 years ago on an Amiga. I won’t bother downloading any this time round, hopefully October’s will be better.
Al long as there’s a couple of games a year that keep me entertained for a bit, then I don’t mind so much. There’s bound to be a couple from this 365 days subscription I hope.
