Soul Calibur: Lost Swords Will Be Shut Down On November 30th

Bandai Namco has announced that it will be shutting down the free to play PS3 title Soul Calibur: Lost Swords on November 30th, approximately 18 months after it was launched. The free to play title had over two million downloads since its release in Japan, but it appears that keeping the game running is no longer feasible for Bandai Namco.

Sale of in game items will be stopped on October 27th, a month before the shut down. The video the publisher has released to commemorate Soul Calibur: Lost Swords does appear to hint to a new entry to the series, though whether that will be another experiment with the free to play model or a full retail release is currently unknown. It would be good to see the fighting game get a new main entry especially on current consoles.

  1. I didn’t even know this game was available. I’d love to get a new SC on PS4.
