Yakuza Kiwami And Yakuza 6 Announced

More Tokyo Game Show news, this time it is from Sega who have announced two new Yakuza games.

The first is Yakuza: Kiwami, a remake of the original Yakuza game with additional new features. This will be hitting PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan on January 21st, 2016.

The second game is the expected Yakuza 6 which will only be released on PlayStation 4. This game will be released at the end of 2016 but those who buy Yakuza: Kiwami will get early access to a demo for Yakuza 6.

Only time will tell if these games make it to our shores.

  1. The Yakuza remake sounds good. It looked like a good game at the time. Only know some of it from the reminiscence scenes in Yakuza 3. More Yakuza is always a good thing-here’s hoping it comes here.

  2. It seems like Yakuza is a permanent Japan only franchise now, which is a shame given they’re good games.
To me they’re a little like the Assassins Creed series in that they’re great for virtual tourism.

    • We’re finally getting 5 though, so there’s hope for 6 too. This Kiwami thing sounds less likely. And we’re still missing 0 and the other spin off game. Can’t remember it’s name right now.

So that’s 1 new one to come for definite, 2 that haven’t even arrived in Japan yet, let alone had any mention of a western release, and 2 that are still missing, but they came after 5 anyway.

      • The Japanese launch Yakuza title won’t come here as its Japanese centric (even more so than the others).

But you are right-there is hope as the 5th is coming here woo.

      • Ishin. That was the name. Kind of a separate game though, being set sometime in the mid 19th century. So not as great a loss if it never comes here.

I’d say 6 is probably coming here eventually. Probably sometime around when the PS5 appears. And 0 might stand a good chance of making it over here. Set in 1988? That might just go down well. But I doubt it will appear before 2017. Which is still 2 years after Japan.

I hope releasing 5 here eventually (and putting 4 on PS+) was testing the waters for 6.

  3. Still waiting on Yakuza 5 even though its meant to be released in June.. Hopefully it won’t be long for the remake, its possibly a good start for new players.
