Crash Override: How To Save The Internet From Itself, a memoir by Depression Quest creator Zoe Quinn, has been optioned and will be turned in to a movie. The deal was circled by a number of intrested parties and has was eventually bought by Amy Pascal’s Pascal Pictures, with Scarlett Johansson said to be keen to take the title role.
The movie will tell the story of Quinn, who was targeted by internet trolls when blog post by her ex-boyfriend went viral. This lead to Gamergate, a movement which started as debate on the ethics of video game journalism but quickly descended in to misogynistic harassment and serious threats to Quinn and other female journalists and game developers.
Anita Sarkeesian, creator of the Tropes vs. Women in Video Games series, was also targetted and received rape and death threats. Hackers also released private information including her home address so she had to temporarily leave her home.

Man, that woman who hated being “bullied” on the internet sure does like telling people she was bullied on the internet. I wonder how much money she’ll get from reminding everyone she was bullied on the internet. I hope nobody else has to find out about her being bullied on the internet after having spent all the money on her movie about being bullied on the internet.
Also, Gamergate is a hate movement definitely not out to show media bias or promote their ethical misgivings and rather a means to keep the woman down, despite having numerous women who support and agree with the principals behind Gamergate. Source: The Media.

I mean, if we truly cared about bullying, we’d talk about how she emotionally abused her ex-boyfriend or how she continues to infringe on his human rights in court despite him basically wanting out alongside all the messages she received. But we don’t. Because “haha fuck men” right? We care when some nasty 3rd parties trolls say mean things to her, but then stop only for her to constantly yell at everyone “HEY I’VE BEEN HARASSED DONTCHA KNOW?!” like it brings some immediate credence to what she has to say and to immediately get back into the spotlight.

And here’s the absolute swinger in your post. People fucking don’t. Zoe hasn’t been relevant in Gamergate since after like the first three months since GG started. So how is she still part of the conversation? Because the people who report on these things continue to bring her up rather than actually discuss the problems in their industry. Because it’s easier to find as much fault in the person accusing you than to look inside yourself and go “yeah, I did a crummy job, I should do better”.

Wrong. Media made her into the “monster”. She’s been doing it for a while, but people have also criticised and laughed at her in moderate obscurity too. I still chuckle at all the inaccuracies in her Bayonetta video. I’d use opportunistic bigot personally because it’s not like Sarkeesian murdered anyone but she’s not exactly squeaky clean either. If actual criticisms of her work were allowed on games media sites, or even her own, instead of being banned or passed off as misogynistic hate speech, we would never have had this mess. This fightback has been brewing ever since articles on bad games websites said “Look at this woman, listen to what she has to say, she’s not incorrect on anything and you’re especially scummy for disagreeing”.
The “monster” we’ve created is allowing a games media to dictate what their definition of bigotry is and that toeing the line against that definition is hatespeech whether you be a humble commenter or a game developer who wants to utilise the freedom to create what they want.

People should watch gamergate videos not the 1-man or woman rants.
The groups of gamers that have both male & female & even transgender to discuss gamergate they pro-gamergate & often said they don’t like being told.
They even videos of just group of women discussing gamergate even a transgender show up & these women are not femmists so they Not trigger by content in games.
See they side of things transgender could have said in the gamergate discussion that they were offended by the content or white males are neck bead sexist mysognist but didn’t.
