Here’s your first look at the Elden Ring movie

elden ring update

Filming is underway for Alex Garland’s Elden Ring movie and I think this leaked set video was filmed at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London. In it we can see a Dung Eater getting pelted by an angry mob.

We also have a short video where you can just about make out actor Kit Connor.

Bandai Namco Entertainment and movie production studio A24 have teamed up with Alex Garland to make the Elden Ring, with the release date set for March 3, 2028.

The cast list is impressive with some big names signed up already, but we do not know what characters they will be playing.

  • Kit Connor (Warfare, Heartstopper)
  • Ben Whishaw (Skyfall, Paddington)
  • Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus, Civil War)
  • Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Black Bag)
  • Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms)
  • Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina)
  • Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes)
  • Ruby Cruz (Willow, Bottoms)
  • Nick Offerman (The Last of Us)
  • John Hodgkinson
  • Jefferson Hall
  • Emma Laird
  • Peter Serafinowicz

Alex Garland has both written and will direct the film. Garland is a well-respected movie producer and reportedly pitched the idea himself to Bandai Namco. He’s also a big gamer with many highly regarded movies under his belt, including Civil War (2024), Sunshine (2007), Ex Machina (2014) and Annihilation (2018).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film adaptation is set to have a budget well over $100 million, with around 100 days of principal photography planned, making it the most expensive film A24 has worked on.

News of the movie adaptation was announced over a year ago but things have been very quiet, but apparently moving at quite a pace.

Elden Ring was created under the guidance of FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin, author of the fantasy novel series, “A Song of Ice and Fire.” The game has sold an astonishing 30 million copies worldwide as of April 2025, and spawned a new entry in the series with Elden Ring: Nightreign, which launched on 30th of May 2025.
