The release of the next Deus Ex title has been hit with a delay, Eidos Montreal have announced. Mankind Divided will now launch a full six months later than planned on August 23rrd 2016, Head of Studio David Anfossi posted on the game’s official website.
Saying the studio aims to build a “worthy successor to Human Revolution” and that they want to exceed the “extremely high” expectations of fans, the delay is to add refinements and tuning, he wrote.
“We are sorry to disappoint you with this news, and also thank you for all of your support and comments. This game is a huge part of our lives, and we don’t want to compromise on its quality.
So please be patient with us a little longer, and thanks as always for your passion and support – through thick and thin. It’s a huge responsibility to work on Deus Ex Mankind Divided – we know, but also a huge privilege. We’re determined to deliver the best game we can.”

With so many buggy games releasing this year, you can’t knock a game for being delayed much anymore. The more time the better to get it polished up.

Couldn’t agree more, fella. We really need to see an industry-wide shift with regards to attitudes towards releasing games that are bug-ridden messes… or even just something half-flaky. :-\

Quite happy to hear that..! Means some more time to play the last one, which is still in my backlog.

Also; previously we had three major releases on 23 February (Deus Ex, Far Cry and Mirrors Edge). Now it has been reduced to just Far Cry – not a bad thing in my opinion.

When delivering a project like there’s always a huge pressure to deliver as soon as possible. Those people working on the project who passionately feel that they need more time to fix things need to have the courage to raise those concerns and deserve to be listened to by management. I hope that management have really heard those concerns and that 6 months is enough time as dev/test cycles very quickly eat up time.

I’ll bet anything that if this pre order incentive was still in play, with it’s Tier 1 four day early release bonus this game would not get delayed. They’d release it and patch it later. I’m so glad their pre order plan got the backlash it did.
