The Sixth 12 Deals Of Christmas Is Need For Speed And The Taken King

The next deal in Sony’s annual festive sale is the rebooted EA racer, Need For Speed which you can buy for a still-not-very-cheap price of £34.99.

Bah, and indeed, humbug.

However, there is a second deal and this one is much better, with Destiny: The Taken King expansion for sale for just £20, which is a tenner cheaper Amazon (£29.99) and a hell of a lot cheaper than HMV (£45.99!)

  1. Is the taken king worth playing for someone that thought the original release of destiny was a bit average (ie me)?

    • If you have other people to play with, then yeah. The Taken King’s really quite good, but you need to play with friends to do it all.

      • Thanks, think I’ll give it a go

  2. I’m still hopeful that they’ll have something worthwhile in these deals

  3. Destiny is tempting me back again now. After the ridiculous rip-off prices for the 2 expansions and The Taken King, you can now get it all for £24.75? (Or £21.75 even, because Game will buy the original game off you for a massive 3 quid)

  4. The Taken King is tempting at that price. Think I’ll wait to get my hands on the boxed copy though just to have it sitting on my shelf n’ all that.

    • The boxed copy is just the orginal Destiny on disc and a download code for TTK.

      • … & the two expansions from last year. The only problem with that though is that the content is now largely irrelevant.

Still, if you can get a group together, Vault of Glass & Crotas end are still a good romp & Prison of Elders is still a good source of strange coins apparently.

  5. £21.84 if you buy £25.00 of psn credit from cd keys with facebook code.

  6. Need for Speed is interesting at that price, I can’t find it new on a disc for close to that currently.

    • I’d recommend getting a physical version for a fiver extra. Good game, but it can be finished quite quickly and the resell value is decent. Although I don’t how much more content the free DLC adds, so it might be worth keeping the game longer.

  7. Is destiny worth getting? I played the demo and was underwhelmed. Thought while the gameplay was solid it was more borderlands and resistance 2 esque.

Though if the co-op raids are like the missions in resistance 2 I’m up for it.

    • See tef’s response above to theicebucket for best insight – Personally, I still love it this far on, but if you don’t have at least 2 other people to play it with on the regular, you may find yourself missing out on content &/or getting bored quite easily. It is quite grindy & especially if you are soloing stuff.

Also, raids are a 6 man affair, so that’s something to bear in mind too.
