Three The Division Videos Bring Christmas Cheer. Sort Of.

We have a triplet of videos for The Division from those jolly elfs at Ubisoft, each with a different theme. The first shows some gameplay from the alpha along with some of the stories from those who were playing.

The second video is an expensive looking live action trailer with a rather creepy child.

And finally, Christmas messages from developers Massive Entertainment.

  1. Looking pretty sweet.
Starting to be hopeful for this again.

  2. Looks good still (even if it has been downgraded). My only concern is the intrusive HUD when you’re aiming at enemies, seems a bit much. Hopefully they can be customised or toned down a bit.

    • The HUD reminded me quite a lot of Dead Space where it’s embedded into the in-game world rather than just a 2D layout in the corners of the screen.

      • Oh yeah, I like that aspect (and it was great in Dead Space), but there seems to be a lot of it when you’re trying to shoot stuff!

      • Yeah it’s a bit like having a cluster of jammed up iPhones plastered to the gun, but it doesn’t seem to get in the way when playing.

Not sure it came up in the video, but there’s also an RPG-ish set of numbers that comes out of enemies when you shoot them, to denote the damage you’ve done.

  3. I don’t really get the relevance of these vids if I am honest – Isn’t this game supposed to be out next year, in a period when it most definitely won’t be xmas?

    • The game is set in the winter – lots of snow.

      • Ah, I see. So no relevance at all then! ;)

  4. I recall Ubi releasing a game engine video a while back and I was really impressed with what it could do. They’ve obviously now dialled it all back to where the actual game engine can run alongside it, and the graphical result isn’t half as pretty.

Ubi are doing a great job of keeping my enthusiasm under control. After all, I was really excited about WatchDogs…
