After a very, very long time in early access on PC, Introversion finally hit version 1.0 and released the full version of Prison Architect at the end of last year. With a final game in hand – albeit one they’re still adding features to, such as women prisoners – Double Eleven have stepped in to bring the game to consoles some time this spring.
They’re bringing the game to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360, with a price of $29.99/£19.99. It comes with a unique Prison Warden Mode, which lets you quickly get playing with a pre-built prison, and with a World of Wardens for sharing prisons online.
But let’s come back to the Xbox 360 version. Her Majesty’s Prison Service in the UK has allowed for prisoners to own games consoles for quite some time now, so long as they’re not able to connect to the Internet. Since 2014, Xbox 360 consoles without Wi-Fi are made available to the tens of thousands of inmates who have these privileges, amongst others, for good behaviour.
Now, on the off chance that Prison Architect sees some form of physical release, perhaps as some kind of collectable limited edition, this means that UK criminals will theoretically be able to design their own prisons while serving time.
Prison Architect also features an escape mode.
