Overwatch’s Second Closed Beta Starts On February 9th

Having had a successful and popular closed beta test in the last few months of 2015, Blizzard’s next big thing, the multiplayer first person shooter Overwatch, is set for another round of testing. After a slight delay, the second closed beta is set to return to PC on Febraury 9th.

Though it’s a first person shooter, it definitely takes inspirations from MOBAs, in creating a vibrant world and taking a mad mish-mash of inspirations in creating a wide and varied roster of hero characters. Getting the balance between these is all important, and the second beta brings with in a number of hero balancing updates as well as an all-new progression system to work through.

Beyond that, there’s two new maps for testers to sample and a new game mode, as well as private game updates that can now include matches fully stocked with AI characters.

The good news for all those that were testing last year is that your access carries forward, but Blizzard are also going to be sending out invites to more of those that signed up to the beta – log into your Battle.net account and make sure your interest has been registered, if you want a chance. Console gamers, meanwhile, are being left out of the loop and will have to wait for the full release, which is planned to happen by June 21st.
