Sean Vanaman, of Firewatch developers Campo Santo, has said that there will not be a sequel to soon to be released game.
“I’m always kind of ready to start working on another game,” said Sean, “but I think we’ll start chipping away at that when the time is right. It won’t be a sequel to Firewatch, this story is done. But I’m very excited to see what we come up with next.”
The game is shipping on PS4 and PC, but there may be a chance for Xbox owners to get a version at a later date.
“We’ll see how the game does at launch,” said Sean “and if there’s a desire for it on other platforms then we’ll explore that.”
“Sony have been really great to us”, he adds, “We really do feel like they care about the game being great, and getting us as much help as possible.”
Keep your eyes peeled for my review of the game very shortly. Oh, and avoid spoilers, streams, lets plays – everything – if you are going to buy the game. Trust me on that one.

Lovely to hear such conviction. They had a clear idea of the story and a single outing will wrap it up. No dragging the damn thing out and letting the franchise potentially suffer.
Big devs, take note.
