Bungie have used their weekly update to reveal the future of the game and we now know that Destiny 2 – or whatever it will be called – will be out next year.
There will also be two larger updates this year, one this spring with a “significant Light increase, a bunch of new gear to earn and equip, and new challenges for PvE players,” and then another later in in 2016.
Here’s the text from the update:
Prior to the holiday break we mentioned a second, larger update slated for Spring. That content release will feature a significant Light increase, a bunch of new gear to earn and equip, and new challenges for PvE players seeking some more fun experiences and replayability.Beyond that, the team is focused on delivering a large expansion later this year, and a full Destiny sequel in 2017.As work wraps up in the weeks ahead, look for more details about the Spring content, as well as more information about our bigger projects in the months that follow.

It’s been two days, no comments… Am I the one one left that actually still plays this game?
Tuffcub
I was surprised as well, no one seems interested.

I still play, but ever since they introduced ‘events’ rather than DLC, I have to say that I am pretty tapped out with the game & tend to only get on once a week now to do a few nightfalls. They are actually not any use to me anymore (aside from the chance of the odd exotic), as the gear that it offers I either have or don’t need/want. Plus I really don’t need yet another ghost.
I only really play to catch up with the other members of my fireteam these days (Pixel & Toutski) & with the hope of getting them some sweet sweet loot (as its still useful to them).
This year compared to last year has felt very sparse in terms of the content that has been delivered to attempt to keep the experience ‘fresh’. As I just mentioned on another article, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the pricing of the expansions, but you at least felt that you were getting new experiences… Albeit only a handful of them at a time.
This new model that they have adopted has just left it all feeling a bit stale. Sure, sparrow racing was fresh, different & dare I say a decent experiment, but cosmetic Halloween masks that focus on stuff already in game (that offer no real bonuses for doing stuff) & a slight change to the tower & a restrictive PVP mode? Nah, you can keep those.
As for the above, yeah its nice to hear that PVE players will be getting something to look forward to, but it’s all still very vague. They might as well have just said “Expect… Stuff”.

My playing style is similar but rather than playing the ever so disappointing nightfalls I only logon for Hardmode Raids and the occasional event (I enjoyed sparrow racing).
In year one I used to log on to grind, do public events, nightfalls, dailies, prison of elders, raids and then some. There just isn’t any content left worth it. Also the forever 319 on all 3 characters is getting really annoying.

Yeah, I would be the same – If I ever got invited to raid these days! *sniffs whilst wiping a tear* ;)
To be fair though, raiding often was actually quite the task as I am not often around quite as frequently or as long as that would require. I do miss it (as they are some of the best experiences in the game), but having to be online for a certain time for an unknown amount of time for three characters is not something I would be able to do particularly well these days (subject to wrath of the wife!). Still haven’t finished the hard Oryx raid all the way through as its just taken too long past the point where I can feasibly be on.
My experience from year one to year two is much the same as yours though – Did everything lots & lots in year one (repeating each time new DLC dropped to get the new gear or whatever) ridiculous amounts in fact, but year two has been a lot more subdued. That’s to be expected somewhat I suppose, but I feel they could have done a lot more to keep things feeling fresher. Something like a monthly event (like Iron Banner) but for PVE’ers would have been appreciated I think.
Dunno about forever 319 for me (which I appreciate is a lot easier to hit if raiding often), it’s a bit more like forever 314 for my Warlock whilst my Hunter & Titan bring up the rear at 310 each. Most of that came from sparrow racing & getting decent helmets & class items for infusion though if I am honest.

That’s because TSA will not be releasing the comments bit as a seperate piece of DLC. You must buy TSA:The comments even if you own TSA.

But will people have to buy Destiny 2:Taken King 2:Extreme edition in order to play the game?
Also, you’ve kinda screwed up the franchise, Bungie. The whole taken king incident, the lack of content and well, kinda staining your reputation.
You’re going to charge for bullets in Destiny 2 aren’t you?
