Capcom’s latest patch for Street Fighter V has removed the ridiculous boob physics for Chun Li if she was picked as second character. Previously, if Chun Li was pitted against herself the second version of the character had breasts that wobbled around like they had escaped from Senran Kagura: Estival Versus.
Meanwhile Blizzard have vowed to remove an over the shoulder victory pose from Overwatch. One of the female fighters, Tracer, had a screen which emphasised her buttocks and player complained that it was out of character, especially when Blizzard had done a great job creating strong female characters rather than ones who were wearing thongs and jiggling their assets.
“We’ll replace the pose,” posted Jeff Kaplan, Game Director. “We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented.”

Of course the internet being what it is, the trolls soon came out and accused Blizzard of bowing to pressure and being forced to edit their game. Jeff then wrote a lengthy rebuttal.
While I stand by my previous comment, I realize I should have been more clear. As the game director, I have final creative say over what does or does not go into the game. With this particular decision, it was an easy one to make—not just for me, but for the art team as well. We actually already have an alternate pose that we love and we feel speaks more to the character of Tracer. We weren’t entirely happy with the original pose, it was always one that we wrestled with creatively. That the pose had been called into question from an appropriateness standpoint by players in our community did help influence our decision—getting that kind of feedback is part of the reason we’re holding a closed beta test—but it wasn’t the only factor. We made the decision to go with a different pose in part because we shared some of the same concerns, but also because we wanted to create something better.
We wouldn’t do anything to sacrifice our creative vision for Overwatch, and we’re not going to remove something solely because someone may take issue with it. Our goal isn’t to water down or homogenize the world, or the diverse cast of heroes we’ve built within it. We have poured so much of our heart and souls into this game that it would be a travesty for us to do so.
We understand that not everyone will agree with our decision, and that’s okay. That’s what these kinds of public tests are for. This wasn’t pandering or caving, though. This was the right call from our perspective, and we think the game will be just as fun the next time you play it.
UPDATE: The new Star Ocean game has also been tweaked with additional panties. “Recently, there’s been a lot of flak from overseas countries saying that if you put teens in ‘sexual’ underwear it’s not good,” said Kobayashi. “So we increased the amount of clothing.”

i don’t think it was absolutely necessary to remove that pose, but it’s not something that bothers me either.
but you listen to certain sections of the “gamer” community, you’d think they’d just had a book burning.
often from the same idiots that call for games to be banned or boycotted for having gay or trans themes or characters.

I am totally against the removal of said pose. This is just another example of political correctness brainwashing. Honestly, the people who found that pose sexually stimulating have some problem with their brains – it is called get-a-life-ism.
Starman
Agreed. Looking over your shoulder is not a sexual pose ffs.
Tuffcub
You are correct, looking over your shoulder is not. Looking over your shoulder isn’t the focus of the image tho, her butt is.
alistair6969
Yes it’s what tuffcub said the problematic is her Arse but you are right it pointless as she not clearly naked.
So that argument is mooted by nay Sayers you see if it’s not lolis nearly naked ones at that, that would be targeted by pressure groups or weak women strong males tropes but this no way there no argument.
TSBonyman
I thought Butt Shot might mean some sort of cheeky attack strategy but nope, just another example of the continuing inflation of the “political correctness” prophylactic.
The Lone Steven
Oh shitaki mushrooms! A developer patched out a bug that caused boob physics to glitch out and patched out something that many cried was out of character for a female character. *Dives into cover from the incoming arguments*
I do feel that there is a massive overreaction by both sides and well, at the end of the day, sales motivate people. That and we, as gamers have a bad reputation when it comes to discussing women being protrayed in gaming.
And because i feel that i have to, I don’t give a rat’s arse about Gamergate,Anti-Gamer Gate, Anita Sakesian who doesn’t research anything and is just using the Daily Mail approach to gaming etc… Just voicing my thoughts on it.
I hate having to put that disclaimer. *awaits incoming arguments and sighs*
pdannysan13
I don’t know if I am overreacting. I am on the “Butt Pose Stays” Side… but someone felt that their 5 year old(!) daughter might feel offended (!) while she watches her father play a video game (!) that a female character has a shiny bottom. Are we serious ? Is this the world we live in ? And then this man had the brains to write to a game developer about this and confront them about this. This just blows my mind. And he succeeded, he convinced a team of developers of this. Some people must have a really dull life if they feel they need to ‘solve’ problems like these.
Mind that, the victory pose is optional, no one is obligated to use that pose. The father himself may choose another victory pose.

Have you actually read the original comment? And the comment from Blizzard handily quoted at the top there?
Someone saw something in a game which is still in beta and calmly and politely gave them feedback on it. And Blizzard agreed with that and weren’t that happy with it to start with.
Changing it has absolutely no negative effect on anyone. Apart from the amount of idiotic complaining Blizzard are getting from the bottom half of the internet. Who are happily doing Blizzard’s work for them in promoting the game. Well done, even if that probably wasn’t the intention.
alistair6969
It’s quite ironic you belong to the third group of people the I don’t care group.
It also ironic you mention Antia she is 1 of them the only difference is she gets paid doing the mud slinging calling gamers are mysognist & sexists & censorship is from it.
Why because the Devs feel the wrath of them. It also ironic that that main stream media didn’t cover gamergate anti gamergate & the gamer press basically stick up for her. Focused more about the questionable content in gamers & gamers themseves.
This very site brought up about gamergate so what was gamergate then did the ethnics already exist, did the gamers are dead articles never happen because this site never mention it.
Plus this site may or may not want to bring the welcome news that dead or alive 3 extreme has broken pre-order record sales that is 1 good news.
Tuffcub
You are awesome.
The Lone Steven
Who? me?
If so, for feck sake, I only put that damn disclaimer to try to prevent something like this as i am fecking fed up with fecking arguments whenever this kind of news occurs and then feeling that i shouldn’t have voiced my goddamn thoughts.
Feck both sides, feck her, feck everything!
Tuffcub
No not you, Alistair. It’s like watching a puppy trying to catch it’s tail.
The Lone Steven
That question was to Alistair.
I don’t need confirmation that i am awesome. It’s fact that I am and i am one of the pillars of TSA. I am the S in TSA. ;) Wait, that could also mean i’m an S as well. Crap, didn’t think it through.
hazelam
i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again, can anybody translate this drivel?
and Steven, if you’re the S in TSA, who’s the T&A? ^_^
alistair6969
Wow sore losers I see I couldn’t post it clearly Steve I was talking to you, you brought up Anita didn’t you it’s true whatever you think she got a company & she get paid of what she do didn’t she Went to the UN to get a Internet censored.
Because someone called her you sucked. Also we talking about censorship in star ocean 5 why post a update then.
@tuffcub I don’t think your a puppy guy kind of person.
@hazel the only drivel I see is the constant drivel of femmists & femminazi shite of SJWs why esle we get censorship.
I bet it really hurt that DOA3X did really well. When it was influence that KT didn’t want it to release it for the west & what was the influence?
hazelam
what’s a “femmist”? o_O
