Sean Murray from Hello Games is back with a new video explaining the art style of No Man’s Sky.
“We recently let a recording crew loose in the Hello Games offices,” says Sean, “And not only did they film us hard at work on the game, but our team also helped to answer a few of the questions many of you have been asking over the years.”
He also revealed a custom faceplate for the PlayStation 4 which is exclusive to certain regions within the SIEE Europe group. These are: UK & Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Cyprus, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, South Africa, Turkey, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region.

That’s actually a half decent faceplate. Quite looking forward to No Man’s Sky on the whole.

Was just thinking the same thing myself. Nicely designed and not cheap or tatty looking either.

So Germany, Norway and Iceland aren’t part of SIEE Europe? What?
Kennykazey
Whilst Saudi Arabia and South Africa is.
I thought Australia was part of the same region as well.

Updated the wording on the post slightly. You are correct, but not every country within the group is getting the faceplate.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the clarification! :-)

Great video, it’s wonderful to see the childlike excitement and passion from Sean and Grant’s team, they come across so genuinely made up with what they’ve created! Lovely work name dropping Chris Foss, if the feel of the game is as retro as the art style were in for a real treat. Take my fifty quid now!!!
Also, the noises from the diamond eye thing are very sinister, almost organic, hopefully this and the talk about th centre of the galaxy are massive teases at some sort of epic Arthur C Clarke or Stephen Baxter scifi odyssey. Can’t wait :)

That’s the first time i’ve noticed that graphic and i’ve watched and read pretty much every NMS presentation on the web. I recognise that they have represented the games procedural makeup with that graphic but i can’t say i’m overly keen on it, i think i would prefer the in-game or box-art style.
But a faceplate won’t have any bearing on my enjoyment of the game, i can’t wait to begin exploring!
