Take A Look At The Cancelled PSP Version Of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

Footage taken from a cancelled PSP version of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion has surfaced and quickly been slapped with a ban hammer on YouTube. However, this is the internet and once something is out you can’t really contain it so the footage is available on Vid.me here, here, and here.

It looks rather impressive and seems to be the full Elder Scrolls experience although rather being open world you would use a hub to transport to different areas and dungeons.

  1. Amazing. Remember hearing about this years ago and getting really excited. Shame it never released, actually looks kinda good.

  2. Wow, that’s incredible! That PSP had some power, shame this never made it out as a full game.

  3. That didn’t look bad at all for PSP, shame it didn’t lead to a Vita version.

  4. For a PSP game, it looks very good. Rough but i’m assuming it’s just either pre-alpha or alpha. I can see Bethesda having cancelled it due to the PSP struggling to run it. I can’t recall any major open world games as detailed as TES on the PSP but i doubt it would run it without bursting into flames. Granted, chopping it into areas could help but it wouldn’t be the true TES experience. Could also be a cost issue and their owners deciding that it’s not worth it on PSP.

Now, the Vita, that may have been able to run it but no-one cares about the Vita. SHUT UP, VITA! GO TO YOUR BASEMENT! GO!

Is that a subtle joke? TES games (and fallout for that matter!) seem to have more loading screens than than most other open world games
