FIFA 17 Announced For Global Release On September 29th

Well I never! The higher ups at EA have decided that it’s about time we got another FIFA game, after months of hand wringing over the future of the series. The best part for avid football videogame fans is that it’s out at the end of September, as per usual, with release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 27th in North America, and September 29th in the rest of the world.

But there is some actual and rather intriguing news to go alongside this announcement, with EA Canada ditching the Ignite Engine which has powered the first three FIFA games on this generation of hardware in favour of Frostbite.

David Rutter, VP and Executive Producer on the game said, “Frostbite unlocks a whole new world of possibilities for the FIFA franchise and its fans. We have never been as excited as we are today about the future of football and the experiences we are going to deliver in FIFA 17.”

Beyond that, James Rodriguez of Real Madrid C.F., Anthony Martial of Manchester United, Eden Hazard of Chelsea FC, and Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund have been announced as football ambassadors for the game, and will be pre-order bonus loan players for FIFA 17 Ultimate Team. At the same time, those who pre-order FIFA 17 Super Deluxe Edition will be able to get up to 40 FIFA Ultimate Team Jumbo Premium Gold Packs, Team of the Week loan players, and other FUT content.

This announcement is just a prelude to the game’s full reveal at EA Play on Sunday June 12th at 9PM UK time, the publisher’s show that they’re hosting in lieu of attending E3 this year. Those who tune in to watch can also expect to see plenty of Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2, amongst other, as yet unannounced games.
