Sky and ITV have joined forces with Ginx TV to launch the UK & Ireland’s only 24-hour eSports TV channel, GINX eSports TV, a re-branded version of the current Ginx channel. The new channel aims to “showcase major eSports tournaments from across the globe” and will also have programs broadcast from their London HQ.
GINX eSports TV aims to add significant mainstream TV exposure to the fast growing eSports ecosystem. Complementing online streaming, with an entertainment-led approach, the launch on Sky and the rebrand across all our 37 million households allows us to help new audiences discover eSports and hopefully gives core fans a fresh perspective.
If watching other people play games is you thing you can find the channel on Sky channel 470 from June 23rd, or online.

So, the UK and Ireland Sky community…

Indeed. Any any mention of whether you need to be an extra package subscriber to get it?
Also, they dont own my household! (the bloody bank has that privilege)

I don’t really get the point in this…
If it was on freeview, then yes as it’s reaching a wider audience, but limiting it to Sky seems like a waste of money. Most eSports fans will be watching on Twitch etc anyway, so I can’t see anyone watching this at all.

So basically, a colossal waste of cash due to Sky being Sky and most people not wanting to buy excess channels just for one. Well done. You’ve destroyed any hope it had of suceeding. Sky, i’m not surprised. But ITV? What the hell?! Seriously? Then again, they have ITVBE which is their crap channel for dumping crap shows.
Should have done it on Freeview. Massive userbase. Potential to create an audience in the UK that don’t have access to Twitch or can’t use Twitch.
What a dumb decision.

You’ve obviously never watched ITV Breast Enhanced before Steven, it’s the ideal daytime perverts hangout.

The current Ginx channel is available on Virgin Media (Channel 290). I wonder if it will cease or get replaced as part of this?
