Author Of The Witcher Series Andrzej Sapkowski Wins World Fantasy Award 2016

The Witcher game series has been around for around nine years, with last year’s The Witcher III: Wild Hunt bringing Geralt Of Rivia’s game story to a close. However he doesn’t just exist in that world but in the literary world from where CD Projekt RED got the source of the games. Now the author behind The Witcher book series Andrzej Sapkowski has won the World Fantasy Award 2016 for literature.

There are eight Witcher books in total which focus on both Geralt and Ciri, as well as other major characters that appear in the games. The first of these is the novella Sword Of Destiny which first released in 1992, though didn’t get an English version until last year. The latest book is Season Of Storms from 2013, though its plot is set between the sort stories from The Last Wish, which is the second book. That one released in 1993.

Other notable winners of the World Fantasy Award include Jeffrey Ford and Terry Pratchett.
