Having enjoyed a fair share of success on PC – more than half a million copies have been sold – Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is now making the leap to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, coming out on 4th October. Funnily enough, I’ve a Vermintide session planned for this evening, but from what I’ve already played, it’s quite a bit of fun.
There’s no point shying away from the comparisons to Left 4 Dead, with up to four player co-op and a motley selection heroes to choose from trying to battle through hordes of Skaven in the city of Ubersreik, as the end times ravaging the world of Warhammer. There’s plenty of melee combat, getting up close and personal with the furry horrors that stand in your way, but with different types of humans fighting alongside dwarves and elves, there’s plenty of playstyle variety to be found.
The console release will come as an extended version, with all of the DLC being bundled in. These range from new maps that venture outside of Ubersreik to the Last Stand game mode, where you fight against wave after wave of enemies.
Developers Fat Shark will be self publishing the game digitally, with Nordic Games on board for the retail releases.
