Majority Of Bungie Now Working On Destiny 2

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has been talking during one of those exciting investor earnings calls and spoke briefly about Destiny and it’s upcoming sequel. Despite getting rather long in the tooth the number of active players in the game continues to rise with “month on month growth in MAUs [monthly active users]” since April.

The new expansion, Rise of Iron, has also sparked interest in the game and is currently tracking ahead of the previous expansion. “The continued hunger for great new content from this passionate community bodes well for the September launch of Rise of Iron,” said Eric. “Digital pre-purchases so far are very strong and tracking ahead of last year’s Taken King.”

As for the sequel, work on that is continuing at full pace.”The majority of the team at Bungie is actually focused entirely on creating Destiny 2, which is still on track for release next year and it’s going to be awesome,” said Eric.

  1. I am not at all a fan of a game that was supposed to be massively multiplayer to some extent and has been loaded with expensive DLCs getting a sequel so soon.
