There Will Be No Early Access To ARK: Survival Evolved On PS4

ARK: Survival Evolved won’t be appearing on PlayStation 4 anytime soon according developer Wildcard. It is already out on PC and Xbox One as an early access game but Wildcard say Sony will not allow the game to land on PlayStation 4 until development has been completed.

As for the PS4 Release of ARK: Survival Evolved, it is currently up to Sony. We’ve been informed that we can’t release the game on this platform until it has been finished. We would like nothing more than to make ARK available on PS4 as soon as possible, as we already have an awesome PS4 version of the game running internally. If you would like to see it sooner, please let Sony know, as it’s unfortunately not our decision.

Whilst that seems to lay the blame at Sony’s door, there have been games such as Paragon that have had early access on PS4, and the console has a version of 7 Days To Die, and game that is still in Early Access on Steam.

The least time the team updated the final completion date for ARK: Survival Evolved on PS4 they indicated the game would be out this ‘holiday’ season.

  1. Probably just as well, i can see it being another glorious time-sink but NMS and 7DTD are going to keep me busy in the meantime.

  2. That’s a bit of a shame. It sounds like Sony might not be too fond of the type of Early Access that involves a slightly more open build of a game. The only loss will, I expect, be in the form of bug fixes and money. Features wise I’m guessing they have more than enough feedback from PC/Xbox One users.

    • The game is already all kinds of wonderful in many ways but the bugs did become a little infuriating. From bugs that ruined every bit of gear you had on you to ones that meant your dinos disappeared, I think Sony is doing the right thing with Ark. It’s a huge game in many ways and I’d prefer to see it panel-beaten into shape on other platforms first.

Early Access was superb but as a game to release? Nope. Not there yet.

  3. i remember when sony were the more open company.
they let mods on that Unreal game on Playstation, they had Linux options for the PS2 and 3, and they had that net yaroze thing for ps1.

now they don’t want early access, they don’t seem to want cross platform play, and linux?
they’re too paranoid to ever think about that again.

    and who benefits?
not the studio, not sony’s image, and definitely not the players.
    who does benefit?

now i don’t care about any console war bullshit, i just want to play the bloody game.
