Nordic Games Rebrands As THQ Nordic, Tease New THQ Franchise Games

Nordic games have taken the wise, if somewhat unexpected, step of re branding themselves as THQNordic. Nordic snapped up a load (but not all) of THQ titles when the company went under, and found themselves thrust into the spotlight.

One could say the most defining moment for our company happened in 2013, grabbing headlines like; “Who the FUCK is Nordic Games?”, “Darksiders Gets Bought By…Nordic Games?”, and “Nordic Games explains who the f they are, plans for THQ assets”. Funny enough, back then, this was so true. Until that point, we had been a low profile publisher uttering expletives of our own along the way, and all of a sudden we found ourselves in the international gaming media spotlight.

And now the good news; THQNordic has 23 (!) games in development, 13 of which have not been announced and “the majority of these projects are based on former THQ owned IPs and franchises.” Those could include Darksiders, Destroy All Humans, MX vs. ATV,  and Red Faction.

As you might have guessed the press release announcing the rebrand isn’t the usual solemn and business like statement you normally get.

As for the new logo design, we literally stumbled across it when browsing some art files, after we bought the THQ trademark and figured: why not? We hope the reception from our partners is less ambivalent but we’re OK either way. We invite you to our Gamescom booth to play our games and see the logo in large-scale format.

  1. Ah, good. I was worried they were simply HD-ing old THQ titles and re-releasing. Nice to know new games are on the way.

  2. Yaaaaas! Nordic do some great things so I’m excited to see some great THQ brands return like De Blob and Destroy All Humans etc.

  3. I would love a new Red Faction game if they returned to the first-person approach of the original games.

  4. Yay! We may get Red Faction and erm….

    Red Faction! and erm….

yeah, i’m not too familiar with what THQ produced and what was purchased after their demise.

But if we can get Red Faction 1 as a full remake or a game that allows us to be even more destructive then Red Faction 1, i’ll be happy. seriously, how is that the PS2 could do more destruction then the PS3? You can’t even create holes in the ground on RF3!

Wonder if it means they may do some WWE spin offs?

Or release via the PS2 emulation on PS4. DAH3 was a bit meh.

I think i might be ill as i never express any desire for remakes. :O
