Yooka-Laylee is a platforming game that many people have largely backed on Kickstarter. It takes 90’s inspired character and level design in an effort to deliver a fun, colourful adventure for all ages to enjoy. The game is being developed by Playtonic Games, a studio founded by ex-Rare employees. Playtonic previously confirmed that characters such as Shovel Knight will make appearances as interactive characters in Yooka-Laylee. In many ways, Shovel Knight seems right at home with the style of Yooka-Laylee and we’ve been promised there’ll be other familiar characters in the mix.
Rare veteran and Yooka-Laylee music composer Grant Kirkhope, gave fans and Kickstarter backers something more to look forward to as he confirmed the game would also be getting a physical boxed version in the following statement:
We’re delighted to be able to offer Yooka-Laylee in both digital and boxed flavors in time for the game’s launch in Q1 2017. As we speak, our business badgers are busily burrowing away on an initiative that will allow Kickstarter backers to upgrade their digital pledge to a physical version, if they choose to do so. We’re not ready to share the exact details just yet, but very soon you should be able to stick your head in the badger hole and look for yourself.
With a release window confirmed, Yooka Laylee will be available on Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
