The name Polybius is one that has a strange history in the world of video games. It is somewhat of an urban legend of a game that supposedly appeared in the US for around a month in 1981 before being removed due to causing various psychological effects in people. There’s never been conclusive proof of that game’s existence, but there is a game of the same name coming to PSVR via Llamasoft.
Llamasoft’s Jeff Minter revealed the game on the PS Blog with a rather entertaining blog post about a strange night in Basingstoke, with the events of that night leading him to work on Polybius for the PSVR. He describes Polybius as a game that is actually quite relaxing, despite the amount of action that appears to be happening on screen. A release date is yet to be confirmed, but if you’re attending Play Expo then you can try out the game there.

The gameplay trailer gave me a headache but the background story has had me trawling google for an hour now!! Amazing, and I live just outside of Basingstoke, I want to track this illusive man down.

Jeff is awesome. A bit worrying with the sheep fetish, but awesome.
