Here’s How To Mod Skyrim On PS4 & Xbox One

Chances are, there are plenty of you out there waiting to get your hands on a copy of Skyrim: Special Edition. We don’t blame you – despite the absence of pre-launch reviews, Skyrim has already established itself as one of the finest modern roleplaying games of all time.

Aside from a better all-round performance and some neat visual effects, the main draw of this remaster is the ability to download and play with mods. Before you can start messing about, however, there are a few hoops to jump through.

The mod menu won’t appear automatically at the title screen or within the game’s settings (at least not in version we’ve been testing). First, you’ll need to hop over to bethesda.net before registering an account and signing in.

From there, click the “Mods” tab, select Skyrim: Special Edition, and then which platform you’re playing on. This will present you with a list of mods, each tagged with a brief description.

If you see any that take your fancy, all you need to do is add them to your library. The next time you boot the game, an option will appear on the title screen, allowing you browse and install them.

Once satisfied, you’ll be free to load your save and dive back into the game, hopefully with a few creative tweaks in tow. Be warned though, activating mods will bar you from unlocking any trophies or achievements.

Mods can also be disabled at any time by backing out to the same menu and switching them off. Simples.
