Obvious News: Gran Turismo Sport Looks Nice On PS4 Pro

In news that will surprise literally no one, but we still have to report it for some reason, Gran Turismo Sport will look really nice when played on a PlayStation 4 Pro. Even better than the bog standard PS4 version, if you can believe such scandalous claims.

“I think the world of 4K and 60 FPS is a pinnacle for the games industry, and to be able to provide that sort of quality on a home console is something special,” said Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi.

“All the cars look fantastic in 4K in terms of the detail improvements, but if you look at it from the aspect of HDR and wide colour, about 11% of the cars in the real world today don’t fit into the standard colour space that was possible in games up until now,” he added.

“Cars like Ferrari… it wasn’t actually possible to accurately represent that particular distinctive red in games unless you used the wide colour space that’s now available in GT Sport. So the brightly coloured cars out there are now going to look perfect in the game.”

As for PSVR support the only comment we get is that “the tracks are very interesting in VR,” and that they are “letting you explore the environments in virtual reality, such as the interior of cars.”

I don’t know about you but the one thing I bought PlayStation VR for, the single most important thing I wanted to do, was to admire the texturing on the seats of a Fiat 500.

  1. Do you sleep in a bed of sarcasm? :-)

    • It’s so much more comfy than a regular bed. I have pillows made of pure sass.

      • You need to check your posts before you put them up tuffcub, your phone just auto corrected ass to sass!

      • Shush.

      • Tuffcub is known as the site’s resident sasshole for a reason. ;)

  2. It’s a shame you cannot play all of the game in VR but if you did you would miss all the ‘gorgeous’ graphics the team has worked on for what seems like years.

  3. 11% of the cars, yeah, sure, that figure really matters in a game with less than 200 cars to it’s name. Either the automotive world got smaller, or this news is completely redundant.

Honestly PD, stop bullshitting around with finicky shades of colour and all the other crap and give us the damn game. Most developers can get the ‘colour’ just right and make a actual fully fledged game in time for Christmas. They lose people’s faith with every piece of news they wait. I personally want cars lists, track lists, direct capture gameplay from the latest build, dev blogs, oh and a release date is apparently something quite a few people might like. I know, a release date huh, crazy thing to ask for.

    *rant over*

    • I do have to wonder what the fuss is, average Joe knows Ferraris are red. That is it. Red. They can’t tell the exact shade of red, and neither do they care. What they want is a bloody good race game.

Frankly I think one of the reasons Driveclub was so utterly fucked on launch is that they spent all their time making the interior of the cars look nice rather than making an actual game.
