Valve has made it known which 100 games and items were the highest grossing titles in 2016, with a mixture of triple AAA titles, free to play games, and smaller ventures. Lovely to see some of the “smaller” titles in there doing so well. Makes sense that the big hitters are top but the whole list is a testament to how digital delivery has pros as well as cons. The pro (here) being that all manner of games – both in diversity and scale – can sell well. Chuffed to bits for the indie devs.

I think someone on reddit pointed out that No Man’s Sky’s position probably doesn’t reflect the number of refunds that were issued shortly after released – impossible to confirm of course though.
It’s great to see games like Age of Empires or Euro Truck Sim which you would think would have a niche market – and therefore most players would have already bought but to see them selling well in 2016 is nice.

NMS must still have sold an absolute shedload to be so high up, maybe heavy discounting helped in the sales? Great to see small and indie games doing well too, and it’s always fascinating to see GTA V selling so well still, maybe the Daily Mail have been doing 50% off vouchers and keeping it quiet?

I don’t think NMS’s been that heavily discounted on Steam tbh, I imagine that majority of sales were from preorders when the hype train was in full motion.
GTA V is insane, it was top of the top sellers throughout most of the whole winter sale! Rockstar/Take 2 must have massive piles of cash!

Hah yeah, like Scrooge McDuck!
