Before Battlefield 1 was released there was some controversy over the fact that the French army wasn’t included within the base game, despite being one of the bigger forces of World War 1. Well it is coming to the game now but you’ll have to pay for the privilege to play as the French by getting the They Shall Not Pass DLC. On top of adding the French army four new maps based in France are being added, along with game mode Frontlines, two new vehicles, a new stationary weapon, and a new fighter class.
The new maps are Verdun Heights which is consumed by forest fires as players fight to control the fortress of Verdun, Fort Vaux takes place in the corridors underground the fort where close combat is going to feature quite heavily, Soissons is a more open map within the countryside, and Rupture which is essentially a tank graveyard where players can take cover while fighting off the opposition.
Frontlines is a mix of Conquest and Rush where the objective is to battle over one flag at a time until one side has been pushed back to its HQ. From here the objective changings into destroying or defending telegraph poles. The new vehicles include the Char 2C heavy tank as well as the St. Chamond gun tank, the most armed allied tank during World War 1. The new class is the Trench Raider Elite who is equipped with a raider club and a number of grenades. Finally the stationary weapon for the infantry player is the Siege Howitzer.
The They Shall Not Pass DLC is expected to release in March.

The whole thing sounds pretty awesome to be honest and it’s more content than some games ship with!
