Snipperclips Is Now A Switch Launch Title, eShop Opening Detailed

Nintendo opened up a little more about digital games and the launch of the Nintendo Switch yesterday. Understandably, nothing will be live before the console’s release on 3rd March, at which point the eShop and other internet functionality will be going live – this means that digital launch games cannot be reviewed before the console is out.

To promote those digital games out on day one, Nintendo will be releasing a “Nindie” focussed presentation at 5:30PM UK time. It will highlight games including FAST RMX, Shovel Knight: Spectre of Torment, a prequel to the original game – there’s also the timed exclusive Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove which collects all the Shovel Knight campaigns into one.

One nice bit of news that followed this morning is that Snipperclips – Cut it out, together! has been bumped up to a launch title, instead of coming later on in March. It’s utterly charming and ideal for co-op play. The will be a demo available to try, and it will cost £17.99 / €19.99. If you’re looking to pick up a second pair of Joy-Con controllers, you might prefer to wait until 10th March when a limited run of Joy-Con will be sold with a code for Snipperclips bundled in.

Further details of the Switch eShop confirm that you will share any store credit with the 3DS and Wii U store. However, people may be sad to hear that no Virtual Console support or games will be available on day one. Nintendo will have more to say on that front in future, but Virtual Console has always been dealt with on a game by game and platform by platform basis in the past.
