Ripstone Games has revealed Chess Ultra for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive with the strategy title expected to release later in the Spring. It is a sequel of sorts to the studio’s Pure Chess which released in 2012. The game will include 4K support so those with the PS4 Pro or a decent spec PC with a 4K monitor will be able to play chess with high quality visuals.
The game will feature single player content with 10 AI difficulties to face off against, and you’ll be able to play online too where there will be a number of different game modes, though these haven’t been detailed.

It’s Chess. What makes it so Ultra? You know what this would be perfect for. Some kind of portable playstation console. Shame the PSP never got a successor. Wait, what’s that? It did and Sony left it to rot within 6 months of release?
I suddenly want Wizard Chess to become a thing. Or chess with it’s own take on it. I barely recall a Lego Chess game that had cutscenes for taking the other pieces. I think, it was quite good but that was from when I was a kid.

Of course if you want to play chess with the most stunningly realistic graphics…

Then get off ye backside, go down to the local charity shop, buy a chess set or order one online from any outlet and still have enough cash to go to the winchester to wait for it to die down. :P
