(Update) Gran Turismo Sport Closed Beta Taking Place From March 17th, Limited To The US

Polyphony Digital has announced that there is going to be a closed beta for Gran Turismo Sport, and that it begins on March 17th. The catch is that you’ll need a US PSN ID to actually take part, and as it is a closed beta only some of those will be selected. There is no way to sign up for the beta as messages will be sent via the PS4 messaging system to those who have been selected to take part.

In the beta the cars and tracks will be regularly rotated so players get at shot at testing a variety, which in turn will provide better feedback to the developers. The beta will also only be open at certain times so the development team in Japan can implement changes quicker from the feedback. There is a mention of the beta eventually rolling out to more of the community, but details regarding when that will happen are to be confirmed.

Update: Well, don’t I look stupid? A sign up page has gone up for the GT Sport beta for European players here. Now you too have a chance at taking part.

  1. Signed up. Truly ridiculous how they contradict their E3 excuse for not having a spring beta, but maybe they are learning and it’ll be released soon.

What am I saying, the game will be postponed until PS5 :/

    • They said they’d have a beta, realised that if they were to release at the end of 2016, they didn’t have dev time to create and hold a beta, then delayed the game until an unknown point in 2017, and now they have time to hold this beta.

It’s not really contradictions, but changing circumstances.

      • I was more referring to the fact that they claimed making a beta took extensive time and work, yet they’re messing about with one now of all times when ideally they need to get their heads down and release the game.

For sure their time budget has changed, as it does with so many developers, but their priorities seem to be changing i.e Do they need a beta or don’t they.
